CLASS POLICIES
Classes and workshops must have a minimum of 4 students, and the maximum is 7 students. Newbury Yarns reserves the right to cancel any offered classes or workshops if the four-student-minimum is not met.
Classes must be paid for up-front to reserve your space.
Class fees do not include supplies
. Class fees are non-refundable. Cancellations for classes must be made at least 5 days before the start of the class session. If you miss a single class, you may make it up by attending an alternate class that week, however individual make-up sessions are not available. Please speak to the class instructor to see what alternate classes exist if you wish to make-up a class. Yarn for classes must be purchased at Newbury Yarns. Needles, notions, and patterns may be purchased elsewhere. If you wish to work with yarn purchased elsewhere, you may sign up for individual instruction rather than group classes.
Students enrolled in current classes will receive a one-time discount on yarn (subject to limitations, not to be combined with other discounts). Students enrolled in individual instruction are eligible for a one-time discount once per every six sessions. Students enrolled in single-session workshops are not eligible for the discount.

READY, SET, GO!! BEGINNING KNITTING
(Six 2-hour sessions; $120)
Here's your chance to learn all the basics to start your first knitting projects. Topics include: Casting-on and off, knitting and purling, increasing and decreasing. The class does not make a single project but rather a collection of swatches demonstrating the various techniques so that you get plenty of practice. Instructors will gladly help you pick out your first 'real' knitting project at the conclusion of the class.

BEGIN TO CROCHET

(Four 2-hour sessions; $100) Discover your hidden crochet skills - perfect on their own or for adding those finishing touches to knitted garments. Topics include: concepts of crochet, basic crochet stitches. BOSTON:

ADVANCED BEGINNER KNITTING
(Six 2-hour sessions; $145)
Want to start a new knitting project but nervous about doing it on your own? In this class get the extra help you need to improve your techniques. This is a great time to graduate from scarves to hats and bags to even, yes socks. This class is project-based; you pick the project you want to work on and the instructor will help guide you through the entire process. Topics include: measuring for gauge, reading patterns, shaping. For students with some knitting experience.

SWEATER WORKSHOP CLASS
(Five 2-hour sessions, every other week; $165)
Is that designer sweater in the shop window too much for your budget? Knitwear is in fashion in all seasons this year and now you can make your own! This is no ordinary class - you will learn how to adjust the fit of a pattern to your own specific shape and the best means for finishing your project too. Topics include: measuring for gauge, altering a pattern, shaping, finishing.
Due to the project-based nature of the class, one single make-up session will be scheduled in advance for those students that may miss a class. In addition, in order to complete the project on time, students must select their project and purchase their yarn prior to beginning the first class.

HAPPY SOCK CLASS
(Four 2-hour sessions; $80)
Do socks scare you? Don't be afraid! If you can cast-on, knit, and purl, you can learn to make socks in just one month . Make them for you or to warm your loved ones feet. Topics include: working in the round, shaping in socks. Students must know how to knit and purl. Familiarity with working in the round is a plus, but is not required.

LUNCH HOUR SOCK CLASS
(Six 1-hour sessions, two sessions per week; $80)
Your lunch hour has never been this much fun or productive! Conquer any fears of socks in just three short weeks. Topics include: working in the round, shaping in socks. Students must know how to knit and purl. Familiarity with working in the round is a plus, but is not required.

JUST YOU AND ME - PRIVATE SESSIONS
(Single 1-hour sessions, by appointment; $45)
Get the undivided attention of a knitting expert as you work on your knitting project. In these private sessions, learn step-by-step how to perfect your current knitting techniques, or learn a new technique. This is also the perfect opportunity for anyone who has yarn and a project purchased elsewhere, but needs help with the project.

SINGLE SESSION WORKSHOPS
The workshops listed below are a great way to learn and explore a new technique that you can use in a future knitting project. Supplies are not included in the workshop fee, however you may purchase any needed supplies at Newbury Yarns before the workshop, or you may bring in yarn, needles, or notions purchased elsewhere for these single session workshops.

I AM DONE KNITTING - NOW WHAT? FINISHING TECHNIQUES
(Single 2-hour session; $55 regularly but reduced to $45 if you are taking another class at Newbury Yarns and your project requires finishing)
Done with the knitting but your project still isn't done? Learn how to finish your garment for a professional appearance. Topics include: picking up stitches, sewing seams, weaving in ends, blocking.

HOW DO I FIX THIS?
(Single 3-hour session, $65)
Don't let an all-too-human error stand between you and a perfect project. Learn how to fix the most common mistakes (without unraveling an entire project) and get your knitting back on track.

DOUBLE-KNITTING
(Single 3-hour session, $45)
Have you seen the beautiful gray checkered scarf at Newbury Yarns Boston? Or perhaps you've noticed the work-in-progress cat-scarf? Maybe you're just mesmerized by the concept of double-knitting? Learn how to make a doubly-thick, two-color, reversible fabric that's perfect for scarves and hats in this workshop. This class will cover the basics without reference to any specific pattern. Instructor will be happy to suggest patterns you may want to work on after taking this class. Topics include: understanding what double-knitting is, casting-on for double-knitting, double-knitting. Students must know how to knit and purl
. Supplies needed: Two contrasting colors of the same weight yarn (DK weight or worsted weight) and appropriate needles.
